Regional telecom provider, Embarq Corp., announced yesterday that former U.S. Congressman, Richard A. Gephardt, would be joining its board of directors.
Gephardt, 66, served as House leader for the Democrats from 1989 until his retirement in 2003. He is seen as a moderate economic populist, and is known for his pro-labour views.
“As a highly regulated company, Embarq will benefit greatly by having a board member of Dick Gephardt’s stature within, and knowledge of, the American political system,” commented Embarq Chairman and CEO, Dan Hesse, in a statement.
