SunRocket VoIP to Shut Down “No Later than August 5″

30/07/2007

Failed VoIP provider, SunRocket, has announced a temporary reprieve for its subscribers, by reconnecting its service and giving users until August 5 to move their phone numbers to another carrier.

We urge each and every customer that has not signed up with a new service provider to immediately do so now, the sunken startup says on its website. Do not delay as services are being discontinued and will be permanently shut down no later than August 5, 2007.

SunRocket is working with Sherwood Partners LLC to liquidate its assets, and recommends that remaining customers port their accounts to either 8×8 Inc.’s Packet8 VoIP service, or TeleBend, a joint venture of USA Telephone and Unified Communications Corp. These companies have agreed to pay Sherwood Partners a small fee for each SunRocket account acquired.

Sherwood will use this money, along with other acquisition proceeds, to pay back SunRocket’s creditors to the greatest extent possible.
