Retail Telecom Services Continue to Offset Fixed-Line Losses in Australia
13/08/2007
Australia’s five leading telecom providers earned approximately A$18.1 billion from retail services in the 2005-06 fiscal year, up from A$17.92 billion in the previous year, according to a report by the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC). Retail sales of broadband and mobile phone services contributed to the ongoing growth in retail revenues, and served to partially offset a continued decline in fixed-line revenues. Incumbent telecom operator, Telstra, leads the telecom retail market with a 60% market share, while Optus is a distant second with 26% of retail revenues.
