American telecom giant, Qwest Communications, announced yesterday that it had settled a patent lawsuit relating to interactive voice applications, with Ronald Katz Technology Licensing LP.
Qwest said that it had agreed to purchase nonexclusive rights to use Katz’s parents, but would not divulge financial specifics of the settlement.
Approximately 200 companies have already purchased licenses to use the patents in question, which cover a range of interactive services ranging from automated prescription refills to securities trading, and home shopping to teleconferencing.
