Embarq Launches 10-Mbps DSL Internet Service
18/01/2008
Embarq, a regional telecom provider formerly owned by Sprint Nextel, launched a 10-Mbps DSL offering across much of its footprint this week, after completing a four-month trial of the new service in Las Vegas, Nevada. Embarq has tweaked its broadband pricing scheme in order to accommodate the fastest tier, reducing the cost of its 3-Mbps and 5-Mbps DSL services from $44.95 and $54.95 to $39.95 and $49.95, respectively. The new 10-Mbps service, which also offers 896-kbps upload speeds and is based on ADSL2+ technology, is selling for $64.95/month. A $10 monthly discount is available to all Embarq DSL customers who also order the company’s $29.95/month basic home phone service.
