AT&T Launches U-Verse VoIP in Connecticut13/02/2008
U.S. telecom giant, AT&T, launched its U-verse VoIP service in parts of Connecticut yesterday, giving its users access to new features and pricing options. U-verse VoIP, which uses AT&T’s fiber optic broadband network to transmit voice digitally, allows users to integrete their landline telephones with broadband internet, mobile phone, and U-verse television services. It was first launched in Detroit last month, and will now be rolled out to more than 70 Connecticut municipalities over the next few weeks. “Consumers want their services to work together to keep them connected to their world,” commented AT&T’s general manager and vice president for Connecticut, Chad Townes The new phone service is designed to strengethen AT&T’s ability to compete against major cable companies like Comcast and Cox Communications, which offer integrated “bundles” of television, broadband, and digital phone services. Special features available with digital phone (VoIP) technology include the ability to set up call forwarding on a computer, or view a log of recent phone calls on a TV. Related News
