Young Adults Increasingly Contact Parents via Text Messaging28/11/2008
The provincial government of Saskatchewan announced on Wednesday that will contribute $90 million over the next three years towards a plan to bring broadband internet access to every community in the province. The plan will be implemented by incumbent telecom carrier, SaskTel, at a total cost of $129 million. It will involve extending rural internet infrastructure, improving the CommunityNet broadband network, and building 50 new cell phone towers. “Every business owner, every child in school, every senior wanting to improve their education will soon have access to high speed regardless of where they live in our province,” said Saskatchewan Premier, Brad Wall, in a new release. Wall described the ambitious 100% coverage target as “our own 21st-century version of the last spike in the Canadian Pacific Railway and an important investment in rural Saskatchewan that will sustain and solidify economic growth.” Related News
