Flat-Screen TV Shipments Increase, Despite Economic Uncertainty22/05/2009
Canada`s leading cell phone operator, Rogers Wireless, has revealed plans to launch two Google Android-based smartphones on June 2. Rogers has not yet released pricing details for the HTC Dream and HTC Magic devices, but they will likely cost less than an Apple iPhone or comparable BlackBerry, given that Android is an open source operating system provided by Google at no up-front cost. We [offer] it to manufacturers and they decide whether they want to use it, and make any changes as they see fit, explained Google account executive, Deepak Anand, noting that the lower software costs should translate into cost savings for consumers. This will be especially attractive during the ongoing recession, according to industry experts. Both of the forthcoming smartphones will feature a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, designed with mobile web surfing in mind. A number of Google web applications, including Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Contacts, Calendar, and Latitude, will come pre-installed on the devices. Related News
