Verizon Wireless to Offer BlackBerry Pearl Flip, Beginning June 19
02/06/2009
Apple’s iPhone device accounted for just 8% of smartphone shipments last year, but its users are already responsible for 40% of mobile internet usage, according to AdMob’s recent Mobile Metrics Report. That puts the iPhone far ahead of Symbian-based devices, which made up 52% of the global smartphone market in 2008, but accounted for only 26% of mobile web traffic. The first Google Android-based product, the T-Mobile G1, meanwhile, accounted for only a tiny fraction of smartphone sales (less than 1%), but seems to show promise as a wireless internet device, generating over 3% of mobile web traffic. This is a good sign for the future of Google Android, which is set to hit the European and Canadian markets this month.
