Telus Ranked ‘Greenest’ Canadian Carrier, but Trails U.S. Counterparts16/09/2009
Rogers Wireless has started distributing promotional material for the new BlackBerry Curve 8520 device, according to a recent report on BlackBerryCool.com. A new Rogers flier boasts that the Curve 8520 will feature an “optical trackpad for easy navigation, external media keys, [and] support TalkSpot for unlimited Canada-wide calling.” Rogers describes TalkSpot as “a great new service that uses your existing High-Speed internet connection and a wireless router to let you make and receive unlimited Canada-wide calls at home on your wireless phone.” This will allow the Curve 8520 to serve as an effective landline replacement. The 8520’s only real weakness (in comparison to other, more advanced smartphones) is the lack of 3G mobile broadband connectivity. The phone’s EDGE data connection and full QWERTY keyboard make it more than sufficient for email and text messaging, however, while a built-in Wi-Fi chip allows users to download files easily within a wireless hotspot.
