Telus Extends IPTV Network in Alberta and B.C.24/11/2009
Canada’s leading cable operator, Rogers Communications, has announced plans to launch a web-based Video On Demand service, providing 19 channels of TV, movies, sports, and music videos to Rogers subscribers at no extra charge. Rogers On Demand Online, as the service is called, will feature a high-quality streaming video player with flexible click and drag video controls, and the ability to browse programming by title, category, channel, or air date. The site (www.RogersOnDemand.com) will be commercially available on November 30, and is expected to generate revenue through advertising sales. The technology behind Rogers On Demand Online is being provided by thePlatform, a Seattle-based subsidiary of U.S. cable giant, Comcast. In the second quarter of 2010, Rogers intends to extend the On Demand service to mobile devices. Related News
