Telesat Buys New Broadcasting Satellite
24/12/2009
Quebec’s leading cable operator, Videotron, has announced plans to offer wireless services in the French-Canadian province before next summer. Videotron integrated 3G wireless technology with its existing fiber-optic network earlier this week and is currently conducting tests. The company did not give an exact date for the launch of its cell phone network, except to say that it would happen “in the first half” of 2010. Videotron is one of a number of companies that acquired spectrum licenses in the federal government’s wireless airwaves auction last year. Others include Globalive, DAVE Wireless, and Public Mobile (formerly BMV Holdings).
