Canadian cell phone operator, Rogers Wireless, has released a software update fixing a much-publicized 911 glitch on the HTC Dream smartphone.
For the past week, Dream users have been asked to disable the phone’s GPS features as a workaround solution. This request was not popular with customers, however, given that GPS technology is necessary to properly run a wide range of smartphone applications.
Users can now safely switch their GPS chips back on after downloading the patch from http://www.rogers.com/dreamsoftwareupdate.
Subscribers that were affected by the glitch will receive one month of free mobile data access as a courtesy gesture from Rogers.
