Public Mobile Opens Retail Outlets in Toronto and Montreal

18/03/2010

Sprint Nextel has announced plans to offer Google’s Nexus One smartphone, making it the fourth U.S. carrier to do so.

The Nexus One was initially launched in January by T-Mobile USA, which continues to sell the device for $179 on a two-year voice and data contract. More recently, AT&T has also started selling the device, although it does not offer a subsidy.

So far, Google has only shipped around 135,000 Nexus One devices, far fewer than the Apple iPhone or Motorola Droid in their first few weeks of availability. Once the phone is widely available through Sprint and Verizon Wireless, however, this could change.

Sprint and Verizon have yet to release specific pricing and availability details for the Google device.
