American teenagers are texting more than ever, according to new data from the Pew Research Center, with 88% of cell phone users aged 12 to 17 sending text messages on a regular basis. Among those who text, half of users send upwards of 50 messages a day, while one in three sends more than 100. Pew’s results are based on a telephone survey conducted last year, as well as a nine focus groups conducted across the U.S. In total, pollsters talked to 800 teen respondents.
