Vancouver-based wireless operator, Telus Mobility, has launched an SMS notification system to help customers manage their mobile data usage.
Subscribers with a monthly data plan will automatically receive free text-based notifications when they have used up 75% and 95% of their monthly allotment. Messages will also be sent once a customer has incurred $10 and $50 in overage charges.
The text alerts can be received not only within Canada, but also while roaming in the U.S. or internationally. The feature can be turned off, although doing so is not recommended. History has proven the hazards of failing to track data usage, and simple misunderstandings can be very expensive.
