Canada’s newest wireless operator, Public Mobile, has received $350 million in financing from a Chinese bank to help it build a mobile phone network spanning from Quebec City to Windsor, Ontario.

Public Mobile is working with a Chinese telecom equipment maker, ZTE Corp., to construct its network.

“This is a significant deal for both Public Mobile and ZTE,” commented Public Mobile CEO, Alek Krstajic. “We chose to work with ZTE because of their expertise in technology and commitment to financing. ZTE provides the world`s top mobile operators with high-quality and high-capacity network performance.”

ZTE has worked with telecom operators in 140 countries throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Its collaboration with Public Mobile has already created around 100 high-tech jobs in Ontario and Quebec.
